Gayle with 2 of her
If you haven’t noticed by now, two of my favorite things in life are quotes and metaphors. Of course when a good quote contains a metaphor I am in HEAVEN. This came today in a quote service to which I subscribe called The Daily Love. I liked it so much that I just made it my facebook status.
“I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my spark should burn out in a briliant blaze that it should be stifled by dry rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.” – Jack London

My fellow MayDecemberers will recognize themselves in this quote I’m sure. We are here to love – not worry. We’ve made a committment to focus on love rather than age (personally I think it’s a lesson from which everyone could benefit!)
Each day I wish I was little better at practicing surrender rather than worry. I’m like you. I lose my focus and fall into the future or the past. And while I may not be where I want in this aspect of my life, I believe I still can change how I think about things.
Jack London wrote about dogs and while I am neither old nor a dog, I do plan on learning a few new tricks!
