Where have I been – did I forget to look up from my keyboard?
Here I am writing about May December relationships and I’ve forgotten about the most diva-est of all age gappers.  What about the queen of vocal cords herself – Celine Dion and her lifetime love Rene Angelil?  Holy smokes – it really and truly slipped my mind.  And I am indeed wondering why?  Is it because the story was born in Canada and I wasn’t paying close attention in the beginning?  Is it because they are peas and carrots (different, complement each other, and usually found on the same plate?)  He’s been with her as long as I’ve been aware of her as a celebrity.  Could it possibly be that we are learning to turn a blind eye to age differences (one can dream can’t one?)  Maybe it is just because Celine and Rene are… well – just Celine and Rene.

Their age gap relationship comes to my attention now, thanks to the Canadian Press, CBS-TV, and the upcoming unauthorized TV movie about her life.

TORONTO — Celine Dion’s storybook rise from humble Quebec roots to the biggest stages in the world is well-known.

But a CBC-TV movie about her early career traces something she initially kept hidden from the public out of fear of a backlash – her May-December romance with manager Rene Angelil, who met the vocal powerhouse when she was just 13 and he was 39.  Their love affair didn’t begin until Dion reached adulthood, but the pair kept it private for years, only to be largely embraced when they finally announced their fairy-tale courtship.  Read entire article here.

I’m not writing this post to draw conclusions tonight.  I’m just asking questions and pondering (something I’m prone to do.)  Anyone care to have your voice heard and share your thoughts on this one?  Am I the only one who forgets to put them on the ever growing favorite May December Couples list?

It’s food for thought.  Right now, I’ve gotta go and set my DVR to record this one.  I’m very curious….
