OK, Now for the Big Defining Moment (Yes, the Marriage):

It was extremely important to me for Gayle to attend the seminar.  I certainly didn’t help make that easier.  Even though we had been warned against it, I reported to her each night about everything I was going through.  As a result, she would have no part of it.  I decided to back off.  I did get to spend several fun hours as one of the volunteers that assisted in the programs over the next couple of months.  I wanted more, though.

How often do you hear well meaning friends (busybodies) giving you advice about your relationship?  People love to tell you that people don’t change.    Even we have told you it is good to practice acceptance with people you love.

LOVE

We can talk about dependencies and co-dependency all day long, but at the end of the day, you know that when you love someone – what they do and how they feel matter to you.  The secret to successful loving relationships may just be balance. Balance is achieved one step at a time while you learn to walk the tightrope of loving them and loving yourself simultaneously – finding a way to care for both of you – not just one of you.  Deep and abiding love is inclusive – not exclusive.
